DIAPLAY FISH TANK
Utilising a holographic screen, Fish Tank is an art installation was made in conjunction with the Artist Jacky Tsai, bleeding the boundaries between reality and animation. Shown in Hong Kong, this work acts as a ‘soft’ introduction to the concept of a fictional menagerie/ aquarium, appearing simply as a large fish tank when first seen by exhibition goers. As the audience approaches, it becomes clear that the scene is fictional, with the waves and fish slightly exaggerated in their appearance and movements. The scene is contained within a hologram box ran by a SBC computers containing a software we wrote for this specific project. The software processes the intake of signals from audience members outside of the box, allocating an area for the fish to move towards, and appearing as if the fish are moving towards wherever the audience members stand.
