TISSOT

 

As a part of their 2023 ‘Focus Forward’ campaign, we were tasked with creating a short animated sequence which would slot into a live-action sequence. The narrative involved a man sporting a Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 watch attempting to find his focus amidst a chaotic city. The animated sequence was meant to be an amalgamation of the various distractions the man encounters in his day to day life in the city, and make them into a surreal, chaotic landscape which he must traverse before escaping.

The director Jovan Todorović referenced the animated dream sequence by Satoshi Kon in Paprika as an inspiration, wanting to capture that same dream-like idea of concepts and elements from daily life bleeding into one another. We referenced the distractions modern life can bring through iconography such as emojis, high speed trains, cars, walking televisions and all seeing eyes perceiving us. This was an incredibly fun sequence to animate, ensuring there was enough filling the frame but giving the character space to be the focal point of the frame. We utilised both 2D and 3D for the various objects and features of the world, with the central character being 2D animated.
